In one of the most dazzling events in Toronto, I stepped into the 9th SickKids Star Charity Dinner. The air was filled with melodious music and cheerful laughter. This eye-catching dinner brings together athletes, celebrities, sports media, and more than a thousand young professionals in gorgeous costumes to create a joyous event. However, the highlight was undoubtedly the attendance of the new Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow. Her arrival not only added a lot of luster to the dinner, but also showed her firm support for charity.
Hosted by CTV’s Etalk host Tyrone Edwards, the dinner was filled with unparalleled entertainment. The open bar offers a variety of cocktails, live music and enthusiastic disc jockeys. One of the most anticipated sessions is the silent auction. The venue is dotted with art related to sports and music, such as paintings and decorations, just like a small art exhibition, which is amazing.
This charity dinner is strongly supported by Provincial Smart Home, and all net proceeds will be donated to the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto for research and care of congenital heart disease in infants. Looking back at the history of the annual dinner, we see success after success, and the night's goal is to raise $100,000 CAD, with total fundraising expected to exceed $700,000 CAD. Not only has this changed countless lives, it has also drawn more attention to related diseases such as congenital heart disease.

This year’s guest of honor is SickKids Patient Ambassador, five-year-old Maxen. He was born with esophageal atresia, a worrying congenital heart disease. However, he was lucky enough to be rushed to Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children for surgery just hours after he was born, and is now strong and healthy, making a surprise appearance at the dinner party. It is not only a story of brave struggle, but also reflects people's care and love, and profoundly shows the power of connection between people.
