Platinum case with serpentine gong design
The watch is inspired by a pocket watch made by Perrin Frères in the early 19th century. This antique timepiece, housed in the Sandoz Collection, was restored by Parmigiani Fleurier in 2000. This new creation does not replicate the historical appearance, but rather continues its acoustic structure and watchmaking wisdom.
The most striking feature is the serpentine gongs that encircle the dial. Through the box-shaped sapphire crystal, the four winding gongs extend along the outer edge of the dial, forming a highly recognizable silhouette. Normally, gongs are merely sound-producing components, but here they become an integral part of the overall design. They are both the source of sound and part of the spatial structure, allowing mechanics and aesthetics to blend naturally.
The 41.6mm white gold case continues the design language of the Armoriale series, with vertical fluting on the sides inspired by the columns of classical architecture. Besides its understated elegance, the white gold material also contributes to sound transmission and resonance. The case is not merely a housing for the movement, but also a crucial component of the acoustic system. Furthermore, the Morning Blue dial, a hue between silver and sky blue, features a water-like sheen achieved through hand-hammered textures.
Four-tone bells and twelve-day power storage
The tourbillon is powered by the PF950 manual-winding movement, composed of 456 parts, all of which are entirely developed and manufactured in-house by the brand. Through the transparent case back, the hand-beveling, graining, and the brand's signature mezzo-vibrato engraving are clearly visible. The most distinctive feature of the movement is its combination of a tourbillon and a minute repeater function, utilizing a four-gong structure.
Most minute repeaters operate with two tones, while the tourbillon clock uses four reeds to create a richer melody. The bass note strikes the hour, the treble note strikes the minute, and the other two independent tones strike the quarter-hour. The four tones intertwine to form a unique and complete four-tone melody. The moment the side lever is pushed, time is no longer just the movement of the hands, but transforms into an audible musical movement.
The powertrain is equally impressive. The movement employs a double mainspring barrel architecture, with one set responsible for timekeeping and the tourbillon, and the other dedicated to powering the striking mechanism. Even with its complex horological mechanism, it still provides at least twelve days of power reserve. Such endurance is quite rare for a high-complication watch.
