Penguins – These wobbly little creatures waddle, jump, or fall before your eyes, so cute that they instantly fall into your heart and bring endless joy. These gregarious birds are very hospitable, standing on the edge of the island to greet human guests as if they are hosts. They follow you with great curiosity, but when their eyes meet inadvertently, they immediately look elsewhere. Penguins will sometimes deliberately cross your path and then rashly choose a completely different direction, as if suddenly losing track. Their cute silliness and special charm attract adventure lovers who are willing to travel thousands of miles to Antarctica, an isolated island on the earth, just to see the real life state of penguins in a completely natural environment.
Adélie penguins, chinstrap penguins, gentoo penguins, seals, humpback whales and killer whales… Antarctica is home to a rich variety of wildlife, and the allure of this pure white land certainly doesn't stop there. Towering glaciers and giant icebergs, snow-capped mountains, pebble beaches, rugged coastlines, volcanic craters and abandoned whaling grounds – it looks like a sci-fi movie set, almost unreal.
This magical trip to Antarctica is started by the top luxury cruise company Silversea Cruise, and it is the maiden voyage of the Silver Endeavor it carries. This is Silversea Cruise's newest and only luxury cruise to offer personal butler service and a one-on-one staff-to-guest ratio. In addition to the high-end design in every detail, such as the matte gold interior, each deck has a fascinating panoramic view. Whether in the restaurant, lounge, or private balcony, guests will be instantly surrounded by vast natural scenery.
The Silver Endeavor is a small ship accommodating up to 200 guests, with four restaurants, a café, a library and entertainment lounges to entertain guests each day at sea. Additionally, passengers can opt to indulge in the steam room and sauna while overlooking icebergs and spotting seals and penguins. Before dinner every day, the professional expedition team accompanying the cruise will briefly introduce the destinations we will explore the next day.

We embarked on this unforgettable voyage of exploration to Antarctica last November. November marks the beginning of summer in the Southern Hemisphere with about 20 hours of sunshine and an average temperature of 0°C. During this period of time, the expedition to Antarctica is generally smooth. Of course, it also depends on whether you will be blessed by nature. On this particular trip, our captain made the right decision as he took us deeper into the Antarctic Circle, to areas like Marguerite Bay – only a few hundred People have landed here. Here, we are far away from the wind and snow, as if we have a pure natural private playground.
If you explore the land of Antarctica in the morning or afternoon, you will probably see penguins in groups. Lead our expeditions with expert members such as professional marine biologists, ornithologists, historians, etc., who first venture to the various islands to ensure the safety of tourists. After the expedition team has completed the safety inspection of the destination, tourists can roam the land, or climb the 100-200-foot mountain on foot, and enjoy a 360-degree view of the iceberg. If you are lucky, people may also witness the breaking process of the iceberg in front of you, which is magnificent, thunderous and earth-shattering. We've been through what our fellow explorers call the "Iceberg Tombstones"—parts of the broken iceberg towering until part of the iceberg cracks with a thunderous sound.
The weather is beautiful, Antarctica is showing a rare tenderness, and we can also kayak in the mirror-smooth waters of the bay. The majestic mountains around us shield us from the wind, and they are a shelter from the storm. Gliding along the surface of a 100- foot-wide iceberg, the kayak lazily weaves through the water with floating iceberg fragments. It was a truly magical moment when we were completely immersed in an otherworldly place that seemed to be otherworldly, facing the greatness of nature, an overwhelming gratitude for being met with a light, calm air. Words cannot describe this surreal experience, as if we were transported to another ethereal realm.
Advice for travelers:
The most commonly used route to explore Antarctica is to fly to Chile's capital, Santiago, and then take a domestic flight to Chile's southernmost airport or port. From there, true adventurers can choose to cruise through the famously rough Drake Passage, or take another charter flight to Antarctica.
Tourists have the option to book flights to San Diego individually, but we highly recommend the all-inclusive travel services and professional arrangements offered by cruise lines for a more convenient and comfortable itinerary. The time to fly to the military airport in Antarctica largely depends on whether the sky is clear, so the total duration of the cruise in the latter part of the cruise may be shortened or increased by a day or two depending on the weather. Letting the cruise line handle all travel arrangements can at least save you the hassle of rebooking.
Silversea Cruise will provide jackets and waterproof pants to passengers, and these equipment can be taken home after use. The boots are for excursions on land in Antarctica only. Visitors should be prepared to wear layer after layer of clothing. Your final flight to Antarctica will be your last chance to adjust your clothes.
Prepare adequate sunscreen products, skin care products, and moisturizing skin care products such as highly moisturizing creams. The climate in Antarctica is very dry. Even on a cloudy day, UVA rays refracted by white snow may cause sunburn to the exposed parts.
