In 1969, Apollo 11 made its first moon landing. Unique meteorite material
OMEGA boldly chooses iron meteorites from the universe to make dials. The unique ribbon-like texture injects an unrepeatable personality into each watch. The surface of the dial is further treated with different special treatments, using black PVD or blue-plated base with electroplated gray, making the overall visual effect deeper and more charming.
However, the real surprise is the moon phase display window located at 6 o'clock. This display window is carved out of two moons made of meteorites, showing the changes in the moon phases in the northern and southern hemispheres. Even more fascinating is that the arrangement of stars in the background exactly reproduces the starry sky seen from Biel, Switzerland (OMEGA's watchmaking headquarters) on the night of the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969. In addition to the moon phase display, the design of the watch also incorporates many practical functions. The sub-dial at 3 o'clock combines 60-minute and 12-hour chronograph functions, while a small second display is set at 9 o'clock, and the date is displayed with a red anodized aluminum hand, adding a touch of bright color to the overall dial.
The watch uses the new OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9914 movement. This manual-winding movement has extraordinary anti-magnetic properties and can withstand magnetic field interference of up to 15,000 Gauss. The movement has passed the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) certification for accuracy, and the transparent sapphire case back allows you to see the meticulous polishing process inside, all of which demonstrates OMEGA's ultimate pursuit of watchmaking quality.
Dual design options
The Speedmaster Moonphase Meteorite is available in two designs, both with a carefully polished and brushed stainless steel bracelet and equipped with OMEGA's patented comfort release adjustment system to ensure comfort for long-term wearing. The black meteorite dial model has a black PVD-plated dial, paired with 18K white gold hands and hour markers, and is equipped with a black ceramic bezel and white enamel tachymeter scale. As for the blue meteorite dial model, its dial is made of blue PVD base with electroplated gray meteorite texture, 18K white gold and blue PVD hands complement each other, and the bezel is blue ceramic, also decorated with white enamel tachymeter scale.
