The Spirit of Galloping Steeds 骏影流光

by Pure Luxury

To celebrate the upcoming Year of the Horse, Jaeger-LeCoultre has launched three limited-edition "Reverso Tribute Enamel" watches by Xu Beihong, paying tribute to the father of modern Chinese art with enamel micro-painting techniques.

Ink and brush transformed into the light of enamel

Since its inception in 1931, the Reverso collection has been renowned for its reversible case and Art Deco style. These three limited-edition white gold watches feature classic paintings—"Galloping Horses," "Two Horses," and "Standing Horses"—on their casebacks, respectively. Through the meticulous craftsmanship of rare workshops, the vitality of these paintings is condensed into a small space. The dial features hand-guilloché enamel with a grand feu technique, while the caseback recreates the spirit of the horses depicted by Xu Beihong in miniature. Enamelists must use extremely fine brushstrokes to depict the galloping or standing horses within a space of only about 2 square centimeters, capturing the power and soul of the flowing ink.

Each of the three timepieces possesses its own unique color and symbolism. The "Galloping Horse" dial is pine green, symbolizing perseverance and longevity. The "Double Horses" dial uses a distant mountain blue, conveying a balance between tranquility and strength. The "Standing Horse" dial uses a sunrise orange to showcase vitality and soaring spirit. Each dial requires more than 120 engraved lines as the enamel base, which is then fired layer by layer and polished multiple times to achieve the unique deep luster of enamel. The overall appearance is understated yet full of artistic tension, making it both a timepiece and a miniature painting.

Stable and reliable classic performance

Behind its aesthetic excellence lies the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 822 manual-winding mechanical movement, a classic movement specifically designed for the Reverso collection. Primarily displaying hours and minutes, the movement boasts a streamlined yet reliable design, ensuring the timepiece's precise operation. Despite its slim profile, it offers a remarkable 42-hour power reserve, more than sufficient for everyday wear.

Furthermore, the collection features a black alligator leather strap with an interchangeable double-folding clasp, ensuring both wearing comfort and Jaeger-LeCoultre's meticulous attention to detail. Each timepiece is limited to only 10 pieces worldwide, making them extremely rare and collectible.
