To get an in-depth look at Volvo's flagship model, we headed to Southern California for testing. At first glance, the EX90 impresses with its streamlined and futuristic appearance. The design of the third row of seats is undoubtedly a highlight for drivers with family needs, especially providing more seating space options, which is especially suitable for children. The cabin is spacious, and the front seats are soft and supportive. Despite weighing more than 2.8 tons, it still feels light and nimble to drive thanks to 510 horsepower and 671 lb/ft of torque. The ingenious configuration of the battery pack's low center of gravity also means that the EX90 has almost no body tilt even on winding canyon roads, and remains as stable as a rock when challenging mountain roads.
Forward-looking self-driving technology
The EX90 is equipped with a rich array of features, but the most striking feature is its preparation for future self-driving capabilities. Although it is still awaiting regulatory approval, the EX90 has already been equipped with the relevant hardware, including 5 radars, 8 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and Volvo's first LiDAR scanner. The LiDAR scanner is able to detect objects up to 200 meters away, ensuring that even if traffic on the highway stops suddenly, the system can prevent a collision in time. As Volvo has always believed, safety is always the top priority, truly providing drivers and their families with a worry-free travel experience.
From traditional to digital
The EX90 can reach 80% of its power in just 30 minutes at a Level 1 charging station, and can easily handle a single-charge range of up to 370 miles. After a short rest, users can calmly hit the road and continue to explore the distant scenery with their families. The interior space is spacious and comfortable, making people feel warm and peaceful like home. The driving experience is consistent with the brand's traditional SUVs. The five-meter length does not make the car feel burdensome to drive, but makes it more agile and free. The innovative digital design is indeed refreshing, but the lack of physical buttons may make some people feel uncomfortable.
