It was a means for Mercedes to achieve high efficiency more effortlessly. To be honest, we have been waiting Mercedes-Benz has been rolling out all-electric vehicles for years. As expected, Mercedes-Benz chose to use its flagship model S-Class as a reference to realize the full mass production of EQS. Although EQS is not based on the S-Class chassis, its experience and quality are superb.
The moment the door is unlocked, the door handle pops out and the light shines on the ground. Even if you haven't sat in the car, you will be amazed by the super-large display screen that spans the entire car. Its interior design is unique in the electric car market. The beautiful diamond-stitched leather seats, as well as the exquisite interior displayed by the accessories as far as the eye can see, seem to be calling you for the ultimate quality and luxury. The comfortable pillows behind you, the textured wood of the yacht deck and the shining car lights in the dark, etc. These elements will make you pamper every sense, and you can't put it down after experiencing it.
We were fortunate to drive an EQS580 to visit the town of Elora in Ontario. The town has beautiful scenery and is surrounded by European-style buildings along the way, and this EQS580 is perfectly integrated into it. The town of Elora is 150 kilometers away from us, and the round trip is 300 kilometers. Do we have "mileage anxiety" before the trip? In fact, the EQS580 with a real cruising range of 600 kilometers makes us feel at ease about this distance. On the way to the town, we felt smooth and comfortable driving. There was only a faint sound of wind resistance in the quiet cabin, thanks to its exclusive double-glazed design, which is not common in any electric car. Its aesthetically pleasing shape and ground-breaking design make this large car look less bulky, especially when cornering, thanks to its four-wheel steering system, which allows it to maneuver in tight urban roads. Turning is effortless.
The hatchback design of the rear compartment makes it have a large storage space, whether it is for sporting goods or luggage. With more than 500 horsepower and 631 lb-ft of torque, it's a fast car even at the weight of a fully loaded battery. It is also a pleasure to use the power recovery paddles of the steering wheel when driving. It is an exaggeration to say that the recovery paddles operate a bit like shift paddles. Electricity can be recycled back into the battery. But this car has a small shortcoming, the sensitivity of the brake pedal is not high, we think it should be as natural and smooth as an ICE car. Due to the kinetic energy recovery function, the braking experience is disappointing, but basically like a normal tram, you can drive with only the accelerator pedal and hardly need to use the brakes.
All in all, this is an electric car with the experience of a Mercedes-Benz S- Class, and in our opinion, the best premium luxury electric car available on the market. It is "rational" – its battery life is enough for you to roam in the city for several days without worrying about whether the battery is sufficient all the time, and the design is reasonable and practical. At the same time, this new EQS car is "sensual", its unimaginable elegance will stimulate your senses at all times – the ideal cabin is achieved with the highest industry standards, and it is equipped with cutting-edge technologies of the times, such as epoch-making digital headlight technology and semi-autonomous driving technology to create an unprecedented immersive driving experience.
