Since its launch in 2012, Dior's Grand Soir series has continued to express creativity, construct ingenuity with wisdom, and write stories with precision. This series launches a new work again, opening a new chapter in the series with three new watches. The brand uses exquisite watchmaking skills to realize free and easy aesthetic ideas, leading the world into the dreamland beloved by Mr. Dior. At the end of last year, this Étoile de Monsieur Dior watch won the award for the best women's complex watch in Geneva.
The mother-of-pearl dial reproduces the designer’s beloved flagship store at 30 Avenue Montaigne, showing it in a hand-painted form. The night sky is like a dream, inlaid with sparkling diamonds, and the gold bezel and platinum lugs are also decorated with diamonds. In the center of the universe in the City of Light, stands the unique No. 30 Montaigne. Behind this iconic building, the rooftops of Paris merge with the midnight sky, and nebulae mingle with the diamond-encrusted Milky Way. Many people get lost in the bustling city, and the night sky awakens their yearning for a wonderful world. The profound magic creates a fantastic night experience of wandering among the relief buildings.
Continuing this magical journey beyond the dial, on the diamond-set case, and then on the bracelet, the boundless sky blends into the deep night. When the automatic device is turned on, the sky on the dial will turn into a magic theater, with a lifelike shooting star sliding towards the horizon, and diamond-encrusted stars flashing behind the engraved mother-of-pearl clouds. By gently pressing the white gold crown knob, the customized movement shoots two small stars into the midnight blue sky at 3 o'clock and 8 o'clock, echoing the legendary life of Mr. Dior. When he was walking on the streets of Paris, he noticed a star on the ground. This lucky star guided him to open his own haute couture boutique.
More than 70 years later, Christian Dior sings a charming ode to this lucky star, and the lines outlining the celestial map imitate Monsieur Dior's passion for astrology. The "Aquarius" mentioned in the design is his zodiac sign, adding a double omen of good fortune to this watch. The diameter of the watch is 38 mm, and the production is limited to 28 pieces, which is also a tribute to its lucky number "8". Time goes back to 1946, when Mr. Dior, who was entering middle age, firmly believed in his mythical destiny and followed the guidance of his lucky star to start a legendary life in the future.
